Wednesday September 3rd, we held our monthly meeting and 68 people were present this month. JerryK recapped the month’s metal detecting at Oceanside Harbor on August 10th and called for a member report on the August trip to BB1 which was affected by the Big Bear Fire. Nobody was able to go as the forest was closed to all activities and the forest roads on the north side of the lake were closed to all vehicles. Supposedly now open again. There was a continuing presentation on both the Clean-up Buddy by Dream Mat, as well as Zack Kaplan’s homebuilt small recirculator that he is using successfully in Northern California and Southern Oregon on crack cleanouts. It is called the “Gold Squirrel” and is designed to be a small, quick, inexpensive tool to carry along to the bedrock outcrops for instant clean-up of your material. The meeting ended with the monthly finds, raffle drawings, and Quarterly Raffle drawing of a gold wheel and $50 dollar gold bag.
