Monthly Meeting

Wednesday August 5th, we held our monthly meeting, and 83 people were present this month. JerryK recapped the month’s metal detecting at Ocean Beach on July 5th and the outing to Crown Point Shores for our Annual Picnic and seeded meal detecting hunt. 25 members attended and 20 participated in the hunt. No new information on the closing 2,200 miles of OHV roads in the West Mojave, or the new proposed modifications to the US Forest Service CFR36 part 228. These would end up affecting all Associations by limiting the number of people on a claim before special permits are needed and secondary activities such as potlucks or raffles on US Forest claims. The Wemo closures were originally supposed to last 4 months and should be ending at the end of August. The BB1 claim remains open for the mountain summer season, but we are not having an official organized trip for August. The Board is deciding on our outings for for September and October and they remain TBA. The meeting ended with the monthly finds, raffle, table drawings, and the September Quarterly Raffle Prize was announced and will be an actual Spanish Piece of 8 and a nice gold picker nugget.
