Monthly Meeting

Wednesday January 8th, we held our monthly meeting and 68 people showed up. It was a week late due to New Years Day and this I’m sure confused some of our members. I presented a recap of last month’s activities, metal detecting, and our outing which was the Annual Christmas Party, attended by just under 60 folks. Under new business, we discussed the impending Chuckwalla National Monument and Joshua Tree expansion expected to be created before President Biden leaves office, which encompasses the Bradshaw Trail, many collecting sites in the Mojave and quite a few mining claims in the Eagle Mountain Mining District. PLP is trying to take action in Washington to lessen the effect of any restrictions. We also had a presentation on the upcoming Quartzsite Gem and Mineral Shows, and Quartzsite Metal Detecting Big Seeded Hunt. We concluded with the monthly raffles and the announcement of the next Quarterly raffle prize which will be an enhanced Felix Gold Bag and 1 oz. Ben Franklin silver bill.
