Received this from a friend and I went on line to look it up – the actual article is below…………..
In the LA TIMES this past Sunday’s edition in the California section there is an article on the East Fork of the San Gabriel River.
The focus of the article is on how the East Fork is being overused. It talks about all the weekenders that go up and leave piles of trash and about the prospectors. Of course the article starts focusing on the prospectors and ends with the USFS stating that prospecting is a banned activity on the river and that they now plan on focusing on Prospectors by citing them for altering the course of the river (using wing dikes for sluice boxes) and defacing the forest (digging into the banks of the river) they completely ignored the trash stating that they can’t do too much about it because they don’t have enough rangers, but it seems they have enough to go after the dozen or two dozen prospectors. Any how I thought I would pass this along.
